Prêt garanti par hypothèque de deuxième ou de troisième rang dont le montant est égal au déboursé réel du prêteur, plus le solde de la (des) créance(s) hypothécaire(s) existante(s) que le prêteur assume vis-à-vis son emprunteur, en payant lui-même les versements mensuels pendant la durée du terme du prêt et portant intérêt au taux moyen de l'hypothèque existante et de celui du marché au moment du prêt. Le prêt «enveloppe» ou «couverture» est mieux connu sous le nom américain de «Blanket Mortgage» ou «Wrap Around Mortgage» (WAM).
